An IP68 encoder is tested for dust protection and immersion under a manufacturer-defined condition. It can be a suitable starting point for outdoor or wet machinery, but IP68 alone does not define pressure washing, salt resistance, connector sealing or every mounting orientation. Confirm the complete environmental requirement.

Does IP68 mean unlimited underwater use?
No. The manufacturer defines the immersion test conditions, which must be checked for the selected model.
Is IP68 automatically suitable for pressure washing?
No. High-pressure jets are a different exposure and require explicit confirmation.
